Plenty of pigs and deer around at the mo

On Wednesday afternoon John and myself shot down to the block for a days hunt. Arriving a little late due to haven to stop for kfc? works burger. We arrived and dropped off bike at the bottom and began to drive up we just got above the forestry gate and encountered a slip that had blocked the road .Eating into the fast fading light we had to pull a large tree clear to carry on. Plenty of deer seen on the way in. NO pigs seen so we went for a quick walk and now no light decided to head up to hut for dinner. After a  few rums,we tuned in for a early assault on the pigs in the morning.Woke up early and went for a walk and watched some deer feeding a few Good red stags and a heap of fallow,we walked a little further and saw  10 to 12 point stag and as he took off he ran though a group of pigs BINGO the hunt began the photos show the end result 2 borris down 10 left to carry on

28th -30th July 2010

Steve went to the Block with Ben(steve’s Worker) armed with chain saws and spades. Started cutting a track around the fence line and filling in the holes under the fence. After a while we flagged the track cutting (leave it for another day) and concentrated on fixing the holes in the fence. We walked almost the entire fenceline in 3 half days fixing it as we went. We filled in a huge amount of holes under the fence. Most weren’t big enough for a deer to escape but over time would have been. But there were a few holes where deer wouldn’t have had a problem getting through and 2 or 3 where they have! been getting out from. The fence needs to be kept an eye on and if we check it every few months then we shouldn’t have any escapees grazing on Hildridge’s paddocks. It might be good to make some ramps for the deer to get  in, on the outside of the fence while we have the digger too.

This is where it all started
